Overview: In one of our most picturesque projects to date, we had the privilege of designing and constructing a timeless, minimalist concrete pool that seamlessly integrates with the natural beauty of the Monmouthshire countryside. Set against a breathtaking backdrop of rolling fields and far-reaching views, this project highlights how elegant design can blend effortlessly with nature while meeting the client's unique requirements for both relaxation and recreation.
The Brief:
Our client sought a pool design that was pared-back yet elegant, one that harmonised with the surrounding landscape while serving as both a social hub and a space for physical activity. With three active, sports-enthusiast sons, the pool needed to be versatile - perfect for entertainment and family gatherings, yet functional enough for daily exercise and swimming lengths.
The Challenges of the Swimming Pool Build:
The site presented a sloping hillside, requiring careful planning and engineering to ensure the pool could be built into the landscape without disrupting the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside. The goal was to create a pool that felt like an organic extension of the hillside, offering uninterrupted views and a peaceful atmosphere.
The Solution:
We crafted a stunning 12m x 4m constant-depth pool, thoughtfully designed to nestle into the hillside. The excavation process was used to repurpose the earth, which formed a supporting retaining wall for the expansive terrace surrounding the pool. The terrace, with its practical porcelain paving and matching coping, enhances the pool area with a sophisticated yet understated aesthetic.
The poured concrete pool was finished with a durable waterproof render finish and adorned with a decorative ceramic mosaic tile design, adding subtle texture and elegance. A Roldeck white slatted automatic cover was installed, ensuring ease of maintenance and protection without compromising the sleek design.

Lighting: PU6 LED lights to create a serene atmosphere during evening swims.
Heating: Calorex extended summer season heat pump for optimal use throughout the year.
Filtration: Aquaspeed filtration pump for crystal-clear water quality.
Build Time: 4 months.

The garden surrounding the pool was thoughtfully landscaped, with planting that softens the edges of the terrace and integrates the pool into the natural surroundings.
